Using the File Launching Feature

JXplorer provides the odMultimedia class that contains attribute types that allow you to launch files of the following formats:

 

Format	Attribute Type
.avi	odMovieAVI
.doc	odDocumentDOC
.mid	odMusicMID
.wav	odSoundWAV
.xls	odSpreadSheetXLS

 

To add a file with this feature:

 

1. Select the entry in the Directory Information Tree (DIT) to which you want to add the file.

2. Ensure that you are in the Table Editor view.

Note: If the required attribute type is not in the table, the entry does not include the odMultimedia class. To add the class, click Change Class. From the displayed Set Entry Object Classes dialog, select odMultimedia, click Add, and then click OK. The attributes types in odMultimedia become available in the Table Editor.

 

3. Click the Value field of the attribute type for the file format.

4. From the displayed dialog, click Load.

5. From the displayed Open dialog, select the file and click Open.

Note: If you want to check whether the file launches, click Launch. For the use of the Edit and Save buttons, see Using Binary Values.

6. Click OK.

7. To save the changes, click Submit.
